It’s been a while since I’ve done this type of post, but with the new site up and running I have an incentive to get back on track.  For those of you who have been with me through this whole journey, you probably remember my “Initial Fit” post a few months ago…well, here’s the 4 months in update.

When I first started wearing my oneculture Pulsar’s (Slim-Tapered) back in December (2010) many people (including the owner/designer) was concerned that they were too tight on me, and I informed everyone that I had got the jeans a little snug on purpose because I knew they would stretch.  Well guess what…I was right, they fit perfectly-comfortable now! Though the Pulsar’s are still slim, they no longer too tight, and I love the way they are breaking in. Notice how the outline from my wallet and cardholder are beginning to show some visible fading on both front pockets, and how the whiskering on the back of my legs are creasing beautifully.  All in all, these jeans are amazing!  Can’t wait to see how they will look by the end of summer.   But until then, stay tune for the 6 months in update.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of joining forces (once again) with the talented videographer, Sadie Strangio, to create an unique visual for the site.  The whole concept behind the video was to capture the essence of what exactly The Essential Man is and represents:

The Essential Man is about simplicity with attention to detail.  The craftsmanship. Quality pieces and limited branding. Stripping it down to the most necessary and basic elements of style. It’s an ode to “less is more.”

After working with Sadie once before, I knew she was the perfect person for the job; not only does she capture the message I am trying to convey, she also adds her own artistic flare to make the video that much better!  I hope you enjoy the first of many visuals!

For the longest women have been synonymous with carrying a bag (excluding back packs and briefcases) on the daily basis, and I am not exactly sure why- but if I had to assume the reason, it would probably be because it was considered a more feminine thing to do.  Well, times have changed due to the more men’s accessory brands established over the years.  This new section I am introducing is simply a photo exhibit of the men who have taken part in the change.  I now present to you: What Men Carry.

This first installment features my buddy and design partner, Quimari Majette, and he is carrying a Marc by Marc Jacobs nylon tote.

Please excuse the delay in content- with me being the perfectionist I am, I am still working on getting everything right to present to you all.  I really appreciate your patience.

In the meantime, I wanted to introduce a project I am starting called “The Essential Men Project” where essentially I will be asking men (all over) one simple question: “If you had to choose an essential piece (or thing) in your lifestyle, what would it be?”  Below is the first installment of the project featuring Eddie  Hahn, the apparel and accessories designer for Royal Elastics.

*another DEEP BREATH*

Wow- I can’t believe this day is finally here.  I know from the outside looking in, it may appear that I just popped up out of nowhere, but the fact of the matter is that I have been preparing for this very moment for a long time.  Only a few has witness my whole journey- from the many failed business attempts, to me being discouraged and wanting to quit everything, to now when I announce that The Essential Man Shop is now open for business!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this whole process- it has not been easy, but I can finally say “I DID IT!”

The best has yet to come…I promise.

FYI: the items in the shop are a limited quantity.

The Essential Cap

Designer’s Note:
This 5-panel cap is the first installment of what you can expect in the near future from The Essential Man brand.  I took a minimal approach in designing while still focusing all of my attention on the details. Everything was well thought out- from the selection of the fabric to the color of the thread.  This cap is an essential product that will easily fit into your lifestyle.
